BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The impact of the United States’ operation to capture Nicolás Maduro is being felt thousands of miles away, right here in central Alabama.
One Homewood resident, Carlos Izcaray, says this news hits close to home. Izcaray is the music director for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
“I had a personal encounter with the National guard I was detained, tortured there in 2004,” Izcaray said. “And, you know, I testified in the U.S. Congress This is an opportunity to also open up the conversation about what’s happening in Venezuela, what has happened, what we hope happens, which is obviously a much a freer society, a freer hemisphere.”…
