BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Next 24 Hours: The sky will remain partly to mostly cloudy with lows near 50 overnight. We could see some patchy fog development but a light wind out of the south could impact development. Otherwise, clouds linger through Tuesday as a front moves in and stalls. This may squeeze out a few isolated showers on Tuesday, with highs in the 60s.
The Next Big Thing: Temperatures will continue to rise through mid-week, with highs back to near 70 on Wednesday and Thursday. It could be very foggy on Wednesday morning, due to lighter winds and cloud breaks. The sky will be mostly cloudy on Wednesday and Thursday, with a few showers Thursday evening.
A cold front is on the way for Friday, and we will be closely monitoring this system for a risk of storms. Showers will be possible for the start of Friday, with a chance for heavier rain and storms by Friday evening and overnight. The instability levels are limited in the forecast guidance, so the severe risk looks low at this time, but check in for updates just in case this changes. I can’t rule out some storms in the mix, especially over northwest areas, with lightning and gusty winds. This front will be followed by another big drop in temperatures next weekend, with the next freeze happening a week from Monday…
