‘His legacy continues’: Irondale community remembers Lt. Mark Meadows

IRONDALE, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Irondale has proclaimed Jan. 6, 2026, as Lieutenant Mark Meadows Remembrance Day in honor of the life, service, and sacrifice of Lieutenant Mark Meadows.

Mark Meadows was a lieutenant with Irondale Police who was hit and killed Jan. 6, 2025, while directing traffic on Grants Mill Road during the Church of the Highlands ‘21 Days of Prayer’ event.

Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr. formally presented the proclamation during the Irondale City Council meeting on Jan. 6. Lieutenant Meadows’ former patrol vehicle is also being displayed on the lawn at Irondale City Hall throughout the week, providing an opportunity for those to pay their respects to Lieutenant Meadows.

Lieutenant Meadows served the City of Irondale for more than 30 years and previously served the United States of America as an Army Ranger. He also served as a mentor to countless officers throughout his career…
