Debris removal delay approved as Star at Uptown redevelopment moves forward

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Birmingham City Council has approved a change to a redevelopment agreement for the former Carraway Memorial Hospital site, setting a new deadline for blight removal as crews continue clearing debris from the massive property now known as the Star at Uptown.

The decision comes as the city prepares for the first concert of the year at the Star at Uptown Amphitheater on April 10 — a date that means large piles of demolition debris will still be visible on parts of the site during the early concert season.
