The city of Birmingham moved forward with the next phase of its Safe Streets initiative with the East Lake neighborhood by awarding Gillespie Construction, LLC, a $372,000 contract to install permanent safety and beautification improvements.
The project will replace the temporary concrete barriers with permanent cement barriers with planted trees. The barriers aim to reduce cut-through traffic and improve accessibility for neighborhood residents.
