JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. — The Jefferson County Commission denied a zoning expansion request for the former Wesley’s Boobie Trap property in Dora. The decision, made after a public hearing Thursday, follows weeks of discussion and strong opposition from nearby residents.
The proposal aimed to expand the site’s commercial zoning to align with surrounding lot lines. The property has been zoned C-3 commercial since 1959, allowing businesses like bars and nightclubs.
A resident expressed concerns about noise and safety, saying, “A lot of noise, a lot of gunfire, fights, ambulances, cars revving up late at night, drunk, you know wheeling out on the highway, all of this we don’t need.” Jefferson County Commission President Jimmie Stephens noted, “The area has really outgrown that type of establishment.”…
