City of Birmingham, Jimmie Hale Mission to open warming station ahead of expected cold temperatures

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – With temperatures expected to soon fall below freezing, the city of Birmingham and Jimmie Hale Mission say they will open their warming station.

City officials say the warming station, located at 3420 2nd Avenue North, will open Sunday, Jan. 11 and Monday, Jan. 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for men, women, and children who need shelter. A separate shelter for women and children only will be provided at Pathways at 409 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd.

Officials say free shuttle service to Jimmie Hale will be available from 6 – 7 p.m. Pickup will be at the main entrance of Linn Park at the intersection of Park Place and 20th Street North with return transportation being provided each morning.
