IRONDALE, Ala. (WBRC) – We know it’s important to have a working smoke alarm in your home, but you also need to have a carbon monoxide detector, too. Carbon monoxide dangers surge during the winter months.
Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. The CDC says the odorless and colorless gas kills hundreds of people in the U.S. every year and also sickens thousands. Symptoms include headaches, nausea and dizziness.
“Typically in a low exposure, you start seeing these symptoms about one to two hours into the usage of these fuel burning appliances. The higher levels, you can actually see issues taking place in less than five minutes,” Captain David Brasher with Irondale Fire and Rescue said…
