Birmingham approves $2M loan for mixed-use development at old education center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Birmingham City Council approved a $2 million loan agreement with a developer to transform the old Birmingham Board of Education Service Center into a mixed-use development featuring retail and housing.

The abandoned building on Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Boulevard will be redeveloped by RPG Birmingham LLC under the loan agreement approved by the council. The developer plans to rebrand the area as The Tower at Uptown.
