The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified an inmate who died at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer earlier this week.
The decedent was identified as 60-year-old Guy Greggory Griggs, a Black male who was incarcerated at the facility. Griggs was pronounced dead at the prison at 1:16 p.m. on January 28, 2026.
According to the coroner, Griggs sustained an injury on January 9, 2026, at William Donaldson Correctional Facility, located at 100 Warrior Lane in Bessemer.
