Lawson State Community College kicks off Black History Month with a program on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. in the ACATT Executive Center on its Birmingham campus. The college will honor this year’s national theme,“A Century of Black History Commemoration,” with a lineup that includes local high school participants, dual enrollment students, Lawson State students and faculty. The featured guest speaker is Bettina Byrd-Giles, a sought-after author, storyteller and leading voice in addressing health inequities.
The event is free and open to the public.
