Groundhog Day may officially be tomorrow, but the Birmingham Zoo has already predicted six more weeks of winter for Alabama. The Birmingham Zoo put a unique spin on Groundhog Day this year by holding their event a little bit early, since they’re closed on Mondays, and by letting their resident groundhog sleep in. While their groundhog Birmingham Bill caught a few more hours of sleep, Virginia opossum Birmingham Jill stepped up to the plate. Birmingham Jill reportedly did see her shadow before taking pictures with the people who attended her ceremony at the Birmingham Zoo plaza.
