Colorectal cancer becomes leading cancer killer for people under 50

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Colorectal cancer has become the leading cause of cancer deaths for people under 50, rising from 5th place in the 1990s, according to a new study by the American Cancer Society.

The study shows overall cancer mortality rates in people younger than 50 have decreased by 44% since 1990. However, deaths from colorectal cancer have increased every year for the past two decades, making it the only major cancer going in the wrong direction.
