Court denies appeal of Birmingham man convicted in 2022 killing of family member

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — The 2024 provocation manslaughter conviction of a Birmingham man was upheld by the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals Friday, January 2026.

Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the court denied the appeal of 41-year-old Clinton Tyrone Ruffin. He was convicted June 14, 2024.

According to authorities, evidence at trial showed that on December 22, 2022, a fight erupted at a residence in Jefferson County that was instigated by an intoxicated family member.
