HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — A beloved bakery that has been at the same place in downtown Homewood for decades will be closing a week earlier than anticipated.
Savage’s Bakery, which has been running since 1939 and through the Scott family since 1978, is set to officially close its doors Saturday, Feb. 7. The final date was pushed up a week earlier due to high demand in the community, that has pored in and out of the bakery since news of its closing was first announced Tuesday.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will now be closing the bakery on Saturday, February 7,” the bakery’s voicemail stated Friday. “No more orders can be taken and we will be first come, first served with limited quantities available in the store. All personnel will be helping our customers therefore we will be unable to answer the phone. Thank you for your understanding, support and your patronage all these years.”…
