Former Trussville Police Department detective arrested following allegations

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) — A former detective with the Trussville Police Department was arrested Monday morning following allegations regarding the sexual abuse of a child.

Trussville Mayor Ben Short said in a statement that Anthony Martin was fired in early July 2025 when those allegations surfaced. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was notified of the allegations. Short stated the case was presented to a grand jury, leading to arrest warrants being issued for Martin.
