American Cast Iron Pipe Company expansion to bring 80 new jobs to Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Birmingham City Council approved a project agreement Tuesday, Feb. 10 to support American Cast Iron Pipe Company’s (ACIPCO) expansion project, which will create 80 new jobs.

ACIPCO, which has operated in Birmingham for more than 120 years, currently employs nearly 1,700 workers and is one of the city’s largest employers. The expansion, known as the “American for Life 2030” project, includes the facilities and corporate headquarters.

Under the agreement, Birmingham will provide a $2,500 incentive for each new employee hired through the project. The average wage for new positions will be $55 per hour, or approximately $114,000 annually.
