‘AI factory’ being proposed along Lakeshore Parkway in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – WBRC is learning more about a proposed data center off Lakeshore Parkway. Company officials met with the Oxmoor neighborhood Monday to get their thoughts and concerns.

Nebius, a Netherlands-based tech company, owns about 80 acres off Lakeshore Parkway. They are hoping to build a two-building AI factory in a former bank-back office building.

WBRC was told that Alabama Power will service the 300-megawatt facility.

Nebius claims electricity rates will not increase, and their closed-loop cooling system will be a fourth of the existing building’s prior use. They also will use natural and engineered sound abatement to minimize noise…
