BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Mississippi University for Women track and field teams set two school records Saturday at the Samford University Bulldog Open at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The meet served as the final tune-up before the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) indoor championships scheduled for Feb. 27-28 in Elsah, Illinois.
Freshman Malachi Morgan broke his own record in the men’s long jump with a leap of 6.89 meters, surpassing his previous mark of 6.59 meters set nearly a month ago at the same venue. Morgan finished fourth out of 34 competitors in the event. His jump is currently the top mark in the SLIAC for the 2025-26 season, by more than four inches.
