State Rep. Juandalynn Givan Mourns Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson

State Representative Juandalynn Givan of Birmingham said Tuesday that she joins the nation and the world in mourning the death of civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jackson, who made history with his presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988 — becoming the first African American to win primary elections — died Tuesday at the age of 84.

“Reverend Jackson was the definition of courage under fire in the fight for justice and equality,” Givan said. “He was relentless in his pursuit of freedom and justice for not just one person, but for all people.”…
