When a luxury apparel brand closes the doors to its Birmingham location, dozens of Alabamians will be out of work.
Saks Fifth Avenue is the largest multi-brand luxury retailer in the world. Its portfolio includes the brands Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks OFF 5TH and Horchow.
Saks recently announced its intentions to close its location in The Summit in April. The Birmingham store is Alabama’s only brick-and-mortar location for the luxury brand.
Why is Saks closing?
Saks described the closure of this location — and eight others in the country — as a “strategic action” to “refine its store footprint to focus on profitable locations with the highest growth potential.”…
