Three Charged With Capital Murder After Valentine’s Day Shooting at Birmingham Gas Station

Birmingham, Alabama – Three young suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal Valentine’s Day shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman in Birmingham’s Norwood area. Authorities confirmed that all three individuals are facing capital murder charges as the investigation continues.

The deadly shooting occurred on the evening of February 14 at a gas station in North Birmingham, leaving one woman dead and another victim critically injured. Police say the arrests were carried out over the weekend, including one suspect apprehended out of state.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, the shooting took place around 8:30 p.m. on February 14 at a gas station located in the 3100 block of 12th Avenue North. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and learned that two victims had already been transported to a hospital by private vehicle.

The female victim, later identified as Shaneka Hicks, 20, succumbed to her injuries at UAB Hospital, officials confirmed. A male victim who was also shot remains in critical condition
