Former UAB police officer charged with 7 felonies, accused of using his badge to steal vehicles

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A former UAB police officer was charged Tuesday with seven felonies after prosecutors allege he used his position to fraudulently take ownership of multiple vehicles and illegally accessed a restricted state law enforcement database.

Solomon Dion Moss Jr. was charged in Jefferson County District Court with three counts of using his public office for personal gain and four counts of tampering with the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) computer system.

His arrest is the latest development in an investigation that also led to the January arrest of another former UAB officer, Johnny Fowler IV.
