Witnesses recall Ibraheem Yazeed allegedly asking for ‘a ride’ hours after Aniah Blanchard disappeared in 2019

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WRBL) — The trial against the man accused of kidnapping and murdering Aniah Blanchard in east Alabama back in 2019 continued Tuesday, which included testimony from two people who claimed to have seen him in a car that resembled the Homewood native’s vehicle hours after she disappeared.

Tuesday marked the second day of the trial against Ibraheem Yazeed, 36, who is facing kidnapping and capital murder charges in the death of Aniah Blanchard, who was last seen leaving a Chevron gas station in Auburn on October 23, 2019 where Yazeed was also seen. A month later, Blanchard’s body was found in the woods off County Road 2 in Shorter.

During the hearing, jurors heard from a crime scene investigator who inspected Blanchard’s car, as well as key witnesses surrounding Blanchard’s disappearance.

Early on, both Kaniah Fisher and her grandfather, David “Big Dave” Johnson, Jr., took the stand. Both were living in the same house in Montgomery in 2019, where Fisher was a junior at Robert E. Lee High School.

Fisher and Johnson testified that in the early morning hours of October 24, 2019, a man rang their doorbell, later revealed to be Yazeed, whom Johnson called “Ibra” due to his friendship with his son, David “Little Dave” Johnson III…
