Trussville considers $25 million grocery-anchored development with $8.1M incentive package

Trussville, Ala. (WBMA) — The Trussville City Council has begun formal consideration of a proposed $25 million retail development that would bring a national grocery retailer to the former Chocolate Biscuit site at Watterson Parkway and Highway 11.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the council approved the first reading of a resolution authorizing a development agreement with BRE Main Street, LLC. The proposal includes a tax-sharing incentive package tied to infrastructure improvements required by the city.

“It’s just a reminder that this is a first reading only and we will have a public hearing for this at our next Council meeting,” a council member said during the meeting. “So again, this is a resolution to authorize a development agreement with BRE Main Street, LLC for a new retail development anchored by a well-known grocery store brand.”…
