Birmingham, Alabama – Drivers and homeowners across Central Alabama have a narrow window to prepare as overnight temperatures plunge into the low-20s by early Tuesday, cold enough to freeze exposed pipes, damage early summer garden plants, and create frost on elevated roadways before the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, widespread freezing temperatures will develop across the region by daybreak Tuesday and repeat again Wednesday morning. Forecast lows range from 21°F near Hamilton to around 23°F in Birmingham, Gadsden, and Anniston, with mid-20s expected in Tuscaloosa and Clanton.
