Jury finds Ibraheem Yazeed guilty of murdering Aniah Blanchard

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WBRC) – A jury has found Ibraheem Yazeed guilty of murder and felony murder for the 2019 death of Homewood native, Aniah Blanchard.

Both murder and felony murder are lesser charges than the capital murder kidnapping and capital murder robbery the state asked the jury to convict on.

Deliberations began Wednesday morning, March 18 at 9:30 a.m. The guilty verdict was announced at noon Thursday, March 19. Yazeed’s sentencing hearing has been set for Thursday, May 7 at 10 a.m. Yazeed has 42 days to appeal the conviction.

Throughout the case and during the trial, prosecutors were seeking the death penalty. According to former Montgomery County Deputy District Attorney, Josh Jones, since Yazeed was not given a guilty verdict of capital murder, the death penalty is off the table…
