IRONDALE, Ala. (WBMA) — The City of Irondale says it now offers the most competitive overall compensation package for first responders in Jefferson County following recent pay and benefit adjustments.
According to city officials, the changes were implemented through Resolution 2026-R-17 and include a 2.8% compensation increase that took effect in February 2026. The announcement was made by Mayor James D. Stewart Jr. and the Irondale City Council.
