As the original Alabama Butterbean Festival came to a swift end, the city of Pinson has created a replacement with a new name — sort of.
Pinson Butterbean Days is the new title, as voted by the Pinson City Council in a special-called meeting Thursday night. The new event will be managed by the North Jefferson Chamber of Commerce and will assume the same dates as the old event, Oct. 2-3.
The previous manager, the Clay Pinson Chamber of Commerce, last week announced it would no longer stage the festival and was going in “a new direction” after determining the namesake cities would no longer financially support the group — even though neither city council had voted against or in favor of the chamber…
