Judge to lift restraining order against Central Alabama Water over keeping fluoride out of water

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A temporary restraining order that had been placed against Jefferson County’s chief water agency has now been lifted, allowing the group to continue blocking fluoride from its water supply.

On Thursday afternoon, Circuit Judge Frederic Allen Bolling said he would dissolve the order against Central Alabama Water, which he had filed earlier this week at the behest of the city of Birmingham over the group discontinuing the fluoridation of water.

Last week, the group had voted to stop adding fluoride to the water, adding that it was a decision based on the millions of dollars needed to update the equipment in each of the four water filtration plants…
