BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A local nonprofit working to revitalize a park in Birmingham has hit a major setback after a piece of heavy equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars was stolen from the job site.
Athletic Alabama, a nonprofit focused on restoring parks, recently began its first major project in the Fountain Heights neighborhood — transforming an unused tennis court into a multi-use space for the community.
“This is an old tennis court that hadn’t been used in about 20 years,” said Jackie Miller. “I spoke with some of the neighbors and they said they hardly even see anyone use this half of the park.”…
