Once a congressional candidate but still little-known outside of the Alabama Republican Party, Jefferson County Insurance Executive Ken McFeeters is making a name for himself by his aggressive attempt to get Alabama U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville disqualified from the GOP Gubernatorial Primary.
Last week the man running against the frontrunning Tuberville filed a complaint with the Alabama Ethics Commission asking the commission to investigate $3,600 in what he alleges are improper charges on travel and food in Florida. The complaint was first reported by The Lagniappe.

The complaint comes after McFeeters initially challenged the former Auburn Head Football Coaches’ official residence with the state Republican Party in February. McFeeters claimed Tuberville’s actual residence is in Florida and that he does not meet the state’s required seven-year residency to run for governor…. that challenge was dismissed.
Property tax records revealed that Alabama’s senior U.S. Senator has a home in Auburn, with an appraised value of $291,780 on which he claims a homestead exemption. He also has a beach home in Walton County, Florida, with an estimated market value of $5.5 million, according to property records. Tuberville’s wife and son initially purchased the home in 2017.
