Drivers in Birmingham are feeling the pinch at the pump again.
According to GasBuddy’s latest survey of 550 stations, the average price for gasoline in the metro area jumped 22.7 cents over the past week, landing at $3.76 per gallon. That’s a sharp climb — prices are now 78.5 cents higher than just a month ago and nearly a dollar more than this time last year.
The price gap across the city is also noticeable. The cheapest gas station was selling fuel for $3.54 per gallon, while the most expensive hit $4.09 — a 55-cent difference depending on where you fill up. Across Alabama, prices ranged even wider, from $3.19 to $4.29 per gallon…
