Part of long-vacant Birmingham area mall sold ahead of $124 million redevelopment

Following its recent demolition, Brookwood Village owners Fairway Investments and Pope & Land Real Estate on Wednesday announced the sale of a portion of the former site to Creekside Brookwood LLC.

The former mall, situated along U.S. 280, saw its last tenant depart two years ago following a slow decline, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and competition from regional shopping destinations.

The property, which includes a section of the former mall extending to the food court and adjacent to the Andrews Sports Medicine facility to the west, will be renovated to house approximately 40,000 square feet of new office and retail space, according to a news release from the companies…
