CALERA, Ala. (WIAT) — The Calera City Council voted to pass a 1% sales tax increase Monday evening.

The increase will go into effect in July. Those who shop in Calera will pay a 5% municipal sales tax instead of 4%. The increase will not affect groceries or gas.
