FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WBRC) – The Fairfield City Council voted to rezone its largest business district to multiuse, a move city leaders say will create more opportunities for development.
The rezoned area stretches from Aaron Aronov Avenue to Valley Road to Gary Avenue and Donald Parkway.
Mayor Herman Carnes said city leadership thought about what the area was missing before deciding to pursue the rezoning.
“The way that we used to do business we have changed it,” Carnes said. “It’s more personal small town home atmosphere and we’re here to live on and make everyone feel a part of whether he reside work or just traveling through.”
