BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS: We have declared First Alert Weather Days from Tuesday into Wednesday. Expect several rounds of storms over the next several days.
ROUND 1 TUESDAY: Storms will drop in from the Tennessee Valley after midnight, and round one will impact everyone through the Tuesday morning commute. The main concerns on Tuesday morning will come from damaging wind gusts and up to quarter-size hail.
ROUND 2 TUESDAY: Another cluster of storms will move in late Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. Primary concerns will be strong straight-line winds, hail, and frequent lightning. Tornado threat remains low, but not zero. Stormy conditions will continue early Wednesday morning. We may see an additional round of storms coming in from the southwest late Wednesday night into Thursday morning for areas south of 20/59.
THE REST OF THE WEEK: Thursday is trending dry with highs dropping into the low 70s. On Friday and Saturday, expect scattered showers with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. Lows will drop into the upper 40s early Sunday morning. Long-range guidance suggests many locations could pick up 2 to 3 inches or more of rain between now and May 3.
