Shelby County woman bitten by rattlesnake while babysitting speaks from hospital

CHELSEA, Ala. (WBRC) – A Chelsea woman is recovering in the ICU after a timber rattlesnake bit her twice on the index finger while she was babysitting two young children.

Scottie Andrews was watching her 3-year-old granddaughter and an 18-month-old child at her home on Forest Lakes Lane when the bite happened earlier this week.

The children were playing on a swing set, and Andrews went outside to check for snakes near the toys — something she says she did on purpose…
