Investigators say Gutierrez darted from west to east mid-block, not in a crosswalk, directly into the path of a southbound 2020 GMC Terrain. The SUV’s right front end struck him, and he was thrown to the pavement after hitting the fender, hood and windshield.
The driver, 42-year-old Maria Lin Ramos, brought her SUV to a stop in a nearby plaza entrance and rendered aid before Gutierrez was taken to St. Mary’s in critical condition. PBSO has not filed charges against Ramos, who was wearing her seatbelt and showed no signs of impairment…
