Man accused of using stolen St. John the Baptist Parish deputy badge in Florida

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly using a stolen St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office badge.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department in Florida reported that someone who claimed to be a police officer had called 911 to say that he had pulled a car over for reckless driving on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the caller, 29-year-old Davonte Clyde Thompson, was not a police officer and that he was using a stolen badge that belongs to a retired St. John deputy.

Thompson was arrested and charged with false impersonation of a police officer.

According to police department, he was driving a silver Volkswagen Atlas with Florida tag 73B ULB. Anyone who believes they may have been illegally stopped by Thompson is asked to report it to law enforcement.
