‘He would always be one call away’: Family remembers man killed in Lake Worth Beach

LAKE WORTH BEACH — Tarndara Mayes recalled the unexpected visit from police officers to her Fort Lauderdale-area home just over two weeks ago.

They delivered news no mother wants. Mayes learned that her son, Tyree Dor, had been shot and killed early on morning of Jan. 14 in Lake Worth Beach.

“I haven’t slept since they came and told me that,” Mayes said in a recent interview with The Palm Beach Post. “They came and knocked on my door and I didn’t know who they were. They just asked do I have a son named Tyree and I (was) puzzled. I didn’t ever think something was happening to him.”

Investigators have released few details, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reporting that Dor, 26, of West Palm Beach, was shot and killed shortly after 2 a.m. on the 200 block of South F Street in Lake Worth Beach. Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has not released information regarding a motive or a suspect.
