SUSPECT FOUND: Suspect involved in deputy stabbing located in nearby library

A suspect involved in the stabbing of a Palm Beach County deputy is now in custody, according to Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

PBSO told WPTV the scene occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday nearby Lake Worth Plaza when an off-duty deputy was stabbed twice, once in the arm and once in the chest.

The deputy entered a building at the 6000 block of Lake Worth Road in Greenacres and noticed an individual with a knife. They got into an altercation which led to the stabbing.

PBSO Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said another off-duty deputy was nearby the scene and responded to the injured officer. The suspect then took a deputy’s car and fled the scene.

The suspect proceeded to leave his car about a mile down Jog Road and was found hiding in the bathroom at the Greenacres Branch of the Palm Beach County Library.

Bradshaw said the county’s Homeless Intervention Team was a huge help in the search. PBSO showed the team a picture of the suspect, and recognizing his face, the team said he hangs out nearby the Greenacres library.
