Palm Beach Insider: Reaching for the stars ― and the wallet ― at St. Jude fundraiser

Longtime Palm Beach resident Bob Butler, a stalwart supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, was remembered by the friends and supporters of the hospital at its Palm Beach Cocktail Party.

The 14th annual event, themed ‘Reach For The Stars’, took place March 28 at the Colony Hotel.

Stephen and Erin Hawthornthwaite were once again chairman and chairwoman for the reception, which included cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, music, and a ‘Give To Live’ cash call led by Tom Quick , a former St. Jude board member and co-founder of the event.

And believe us when we tell you that once he takes the mic and ratchets up that Irish charm, he can squeeze a C-note out of Ebeneezer Scrooge himself.

“Collectively, our community is committed to advancing many missions,” chairwoman Hawthornthwaite said to guests, “but with your demonstrated support and presence, we celebrate the active role you play in advancing St. Jude’s mission.

“We fund the research that will save the lives of hundreds of thousands of children stricken with cancer and other life-threatening diseases throughout the nation and around the globe. ”
