Riviera Beach police charge woman with murder of her husband

RIVIERA BEACH — A Riviera Beach woman was arrested Friday and charged with murdering her husband in a January shooting at their home, police said Saturday.

Ishiama Augustin, 31, called Riviera Beach Police early in the morning of Jan. 22 to report that she had shot her husband, Stanley Augustin. Police found Augustin, who was 46, deceased when they arrived at the Augustin home in the 1400 block of West 32nd Street.

Police established probable cause to arrest Ishiama Augustin on Thursday, and she was taken into custody Friday and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm. She was being held Saturday in the Palm Beach County Jail. Bail has been set at $50,000.

Police records say Ishiama Augustin told officers she shot her husband because he had threatened to kill her. She said she feared for her life as he approached her in a menacing manner, because she knew that he often had a gun with him. Stanley Augustin was shot three times in the chest with a Glock 9 mm, police said.

The Augustins’ 4-year old daughter was in her bedroom when the shooting occurred, police said. Ishiama Augustin expressed no remorse about her husband’s death when talking with investigators, Riviera police said.
