Mickey Loewenstein, Peabody Award-winning designer for PBS, has died at 90

Michael “Mickey” Loewenstein, 90, died of natural causes at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL on Aug. 20, 2024. Mickey was a television scenic designer of iconic programs for WTTW in Chicago including Sneak Previews, Kukla, Fran and Ollie, and Soundstage. His work was recognized by his peers; over the years he received six regional Emmy awards and a Peabody award. The Chicago History Museum holds a body of his work in their permanent collection.
