Town of Palm Beach United Way launches Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund

The Town of Palm Beach United Way is working to help those who have experienced the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene throughout the southeastern United States.

The organization has created the Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund to assist with storm-relief efforts across the six states, including Florida, that were hit by the storm, the Town of Palm Beach United Way said in an email Tuesday to supporters.

“The Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund will help with immediate relief for people in need,” the organization said in the email.

That begins with a drive to meet a matching gift of up to $10,000 from a local donor, the United Way said.

Donations can be made online at palmbeachunitedway.org , by phone at 561-655-1919 or by check made payable to Town of Palm Beach United Way with “Hurricane Helene” in the memo and mailed to 44 Cocoanut Row, Suite M201, Palm Beach, FL 33480.

The Town of Palm Beach United Way said money raised in the Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund will be distributed to nonprofits including Americares, which is working in Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee to provide essential medical supplies to Helene survivors; Global Empowerment Mission, which has established locations in Perry, Florida, and Asheville, North Carolina, to distribute food, water, ice, cleaning supplies, pet supplies and more; and World Central Kitchen, which has teams in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina working to provide free meals through a network of “Rapid Response Field Kitchens.”
