The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was mourning the loss of a beloved member of the agency’s mounted unit – an 18-year-old horse named Vanessa.
The horse, a Holsteiner mare, fell ill during an assignment at St. Mary’s Medical Center and sadly succumbed to her medical condition, a statement from the sheriff’s office said.
“Known for her athleticism and confidence, she was a cherished member of our team and will be deeply missed,” it went on to say.
Specifics on the medical condition which claimed the horse’s life were not described in the announcement.
