Two men jailed for the killing of a mother and daughter, 4, in Broward, deputies say

Nearly six months after a mother and daughter were killed while driving down the Florida Turnpike in Broward County, two men have been charged in the shootings.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the arrests of Antoine Harris, 28, and Jaquan Thomas, 29, for the double homicide of Beatrice Saintvil and her four-year-old daughter, Janelle Souffrant.

The shooting occurred on June 7 at about 11:14 p.m. near Mile Marker 49, just south of Hollywood Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded around 11:50 p.m. and discovered a car parked in the left breakdown lane. Inside, Saintvil and her daughter Janelle were found with gunshot wounds, deputies say.

Janelle died at the scene. Saintvil was taken to a local hospital by Hollywood Fire Rescue but died shortly after, deputies say.

The case remained unsolved for months despite a $20,000 reward offered by Broward Crime Stoppers for information leading to an arrest. At the request of FHP, BSO homicide detectives took over the investigation.
