POMPANO BEACH, Florida — Two passengers lost their lives in a three-vehicle collision early New Year’s Day, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at the intersection of Southeast Fifth Court and South Federal Highway.Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting the incident, which involved a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, and a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder. Investigators revealed that the Corvette, traveling southbound, collided with the Santa Fe as it attempted a left turn. The impact ejected a passenger from the Santa Fe, which then struck the stationary Pathfinder. The Corvette subsequently lost control and hit a utility pole.Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported a passenger from the Corvette, a passenger from the Santa Fe, and the driver of the Pathfinder to Broward Health North, where both passengers were pronounced deceased. Detectives noted that both deceased passengers were unrestrained in the front passenger seat. The investigation is ongoing, stated the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
