Ballet Palm Beach adds pianist, author to board

Classical pianist and the author and photographer of “Sunsets,” a coffee-table book, Lora Drasner has been named to Ballet Palm Beach’s board of directors. In addition to serving on the Miami City Ballet board for several years, Drasner studied ballet for 12 years. Drasner is co-chairing the Ballet Palm Beach Gala “A Night in Monte Carlo,” on Jan. 29, 2025 at the Breakers.

Wounded Veterans Relief Fund names board chair

The Wounded Veterans Relief Fund board of directors recently confirmed Russ Cancilla as the new chairman and president of the board, succeeding retired Lt. Gen. Robert Chelberg. Cancilla, a decorated combat veteran, has held key positions of increasing responsibility during his military service, including serving as the military aide to President George H.W. Bush. Over the past three years, as a board member and vice president, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s direction. Founded in 2009, the relief fund is a grassroots 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by veterans serving veterans. Its mission is to provide urgent financial assistance and critical dental care to Florida’s eligible wounded and disabled veterans.
